According to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (Nov 3, 2026), the Fabric for AI-Driven Science (FabAID) is a five-year, $24.5 million project selected by the U.S. National Science Foundation as part of a broader $83 million investment through the Integrated Data Systems and Services (IDSS) program. Led by the Morgridge Institute for Research in Madison, Wisconsin, it aims to weave distributed data repositories, AI services and computing resources into one fabric for researchers and educators across the country, including national infrastructure such as NAIRR. FabAID builds on more than two decades of work by the OSG Consortium and the Center for High Throughput Computing (the Pelican and PATh platforms and HTCondor). Nebraska, through its Holland Computing Center, will lead the fabric's cybersecurity and contribute to day-to-day operations.
